Hello! If you do not already know who I am, my name is Lily Yandow, and I am an artist from St. Albans, VT. I grew up on a small dairy farm in the Green Mountains with my six older siblings, and I graduated with a degree in fine arts from Benedictine College in 2024. I love being ouside, working with my hands, talking about books, and spending time with people (especially my nieces and nephews)!

I will be doing a summer of service with Christ in the City, which is a beautiful homeless ministery that aims to adresses the universal need for human connection. If you are interested in learning more about them you can check out their website here: https://christinthecity.org/

This summer will be my first time serving with Christ in the City, and I am looking forward to entering into a simple life of poverty, encounter, and prayer. For the past two years I have worked as a production potter, and I have felt Christ asking me to break away from a self-centered lifestyle and embrace a life of service. When we tell Christ we love Him, we must be ready for the ensuing command: “Feed my sheep.”

My hope for this summer is that I can bring a glimmer of Christ’s joy into the lives of the homeless. I aspire to remind those ignored and abused by society that they are worthy of attention and love. In doing so, I trust that I will come face to face with Christ in the eyes of the poor and be reminded of my own poverty.
