Hi, my name is Luke Tunge. I'm from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and am just wrapping up my second year studying for the priesthood as a seminarian for the Diocese of Sioux Falls.
Jesus Christ has brought me more abundant life and real friendship with Him through the witness of others, prayer, adoration, mass and reconciliation. I desire to be a vessel of His love and mercy to others as he has been to me through the generous and faithful priests, religious, family and friends that have brought me the gift of the faith. Mama Mary has prayed a lot for me as well (I need the prayers), and I have entrusted myself and my discernment to her loving care and kindness towards me.
This summer as a part of seminary formation I have been assigned to serve at Christ in the City in Denver, Colorado. This is a program that focuses on filling the poverty of loneliness and being unseen, especially among those who are living on the streets of the inner city. St. Teresa of Calcutta says: "The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved". This mission aims to fill that need and to develop the skills to be a light to others in dark places wherever that might be.
I have three main goals in entering into this summer mission with Christ in the City:
1. To learn to encounter and love the hidden face of Christ in a deeper way in those I encounter on a daily basis
2. To strengthen habits of availability, attentiveness, and love toward others
3. To grow in perseverance in the midst of stressful and uncomfortable circumstances
I have been asked to fundraise $1500 for expenses for this upcoming summer, and would like to invite you to be a part of the mission through prayers (especially!) as well as financial support. Thank you for you generosity! I know God has never been outdone in generosity with the little that I offer Him. I'm very grateful to have you as a part of the mission in whatever capacity you feel called to.
